Ligate or suture tissues where absorbable suture is desirable
  PDS™, Maxon™ 6 month
Ligate or suture tissue especially where an absorbable suture and   extended wound support is needed
  Chromic gut Versatile material for use on tissues where sutures are buried
Not acceptable for suturing skin
Non-absorbable
  Prolene™ Inert
Use where there is tension
  Nylon Inert
General closure
  Stainless steel      clips Requires intrument for removal
  Staples
  Nexaband™ or   other Versatile and fast
