CORIHS recommends consultation with the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) early on in the planning stages of research in order to facilitate the coordination of various deadlines to which the activity may be subject for review. There are separate campus committees that are federally and/or state mandated to review research for compliance with regulations that govern involvement of, for example, animal subjects, recombinant DNA, and radioisotopes. |
The length of time required for review of an application by CORIHS is necessarily dependent on the review category into which a given application falls:
|
There are 2 deadlines and 2 meetings per month (each of 2 CORIHS committees meets once/month). Exact meeting dates and application deadlines are available at: http://www.stonybrook.edu/research/humans/irbsched.html |
The committee (CORIHSa or
CORIHSb) that reviews the initial or continuing research study will retain responsibility
for review of all amendments, adverse events, and overall oversight associated
with the activity during the issued approval period. |
